Terrain Modeling – From Autocad to 3ds MAX

In this video tutorial I’ll be covering the process that I use to create an accurate terrain model in 3ds max, based on a topography CAD file. At the bottom of this post there’s a download link for the AutoCAD file, so you could try it on your own!

Lesson Breakdown:

  1. Preparing the AutoCAD file before export.
  2. Importing the file into 3ds max.
  3. Converting the lines into 3d mesh.
  4. Fixing the mesh typology with the help of a free plug-in.
